Intermediate Process Engineer  [Feb.16, 2010]

Location: Montreal, Canada

BBA is an established, privately-owned Canadian provider of specialized engineering services to the energy, mining and minerals processing industries. As a result of recent growth in the mines and metals sector, an exciting opportunity exists to join the BBA team. BBA is currently seeking a dynamic Process Specialist to provide high quality consulting services to its growing base of clients in metallurgy and mineral processing.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, consulting, analytical and organisational skills as well as being a dedicated team player. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years experience and be interested in business development. Preference will be given to candidates with consulting experience and those who have the demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to complex metallurgical problems. This position is located in BBA’s downtown Montreal office. A Vancouver based position may also be available for the right candidate.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team of skilled engineers, designers and project support staff .
  • Manage a variety of cross discipline teams to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects that meet or exceed client expectations .
  • Reviewing and approving process plant material balance, process design criteria, PFD’s, P&ID’s, plant layouts, technical specifications and technical evaluations
  • Preparation of Capital and Operating Cost Evaluations.
  • Ability to supervise laboratory or plant testing programs.
  • Must be able to liaise with clients on a technical level and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner.
  • Passion and aptitude to mentor, train, and share your experiences with others.
  • Enthusiasm for business development and company growth.
  • Creation and review of proposals.
  • Occasional travel to domestic and international destinations is required.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in gold or base metal operations and/or design.
  • General areas of expertise include: metallurgical test work planning/analysis, crushing, grinding, flotation, hydrometallurgy, water treatment, gravity separation, pressure oxidation, heap leaching, CIL/CIP and electro winning/refining.
  • Strong track record of successfully completed projects in the mining industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to register as a Professional Engineer in Quebec.
  • Feasibility study and NI 43-101 experience is considered an important asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and process simulation software.
  • Bilingual (French, English), knowledge of other languages considered a strong asset.
  • Available for occasional travel to domestic and international destinations
