The Wark, an integral and proud part of the University of South Australia, has a worldwide reputation for its fundamental and applied research, which embraces the broad area of particle and material interface science and technology. The Wark’s research activities advance global knowledge and understanding in interface science and engineering, underpinning Australian industry through breakthrough science and technology transfer.

The Research Professor will be responsible for the strategic growth of academic activities in the minerals research area of The Wark and will develop their expertise through fundamental and applied research projects in one or more of the following areas: metallurgical/minerals engineering or chemical engineering applied to minerals science and technology.

The successful appointee will have outstanding research capabilities and demonstrated leadership in mineral flotation and/or other mineral processing areas, for example hydrometallurgy and physical separation.

The successful appointee will be an internationally recognised researcher, experienced in working with national and international institutions and industries in collaborative research, as well as the supervision and teaching of research students. They will assume the role of Associate Director: Minerals, enhancing The Wark's ability to develop strategic research initiatives.
