Senior Metallurgist  [Feb.23, 2010]

Location: Australia

We are seeking a creative and dynamic individual who is capable of leading and coaching a technical team in achieving metallurgical improvements in one of Australia's most complex and diverse concentrators. The project includes conventional crushing and grinding processes, sulphide and oxide flotation, state-of-the-art gravity concentration processes, and concentrate leaching.

Reporting to the Processing Manager your primary responsibility in this role will be to provide metallurgical leadership in meeting the business objectives of the operation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing metallurgical continuous improvement projects including design, documentation, HAZOP studies and commissioning.
  • Leading technical personnel in achievement of process KPI's.
  • Coaching and developing metallurgical plant personnel.
  • Conducting metallurgical studies in development of capital projects.
  • Providing expertise in process troubleshooting.
  • Developing and maintaining technical reporting standards.
  • Ensure site safety policies and procedures are adhered to.

To be successful in this role you will require tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering, plus significant experience in technical leadership roles in complex plant operations. Exposure to flotation processes is essential.
