Process Improvement Metallurgist  [Apr.2, 2008]

Rio Tinto Iron Ore has a vacancy for a Process Improvement Metallurgist at their Expansion Projects Metallurgical Evaluation facility based in the coastal township of Dampier. You will be a key member of a team that is responsible for analysing the metallurgical properties of current and future iron ore deposits for Rio Tinto Iron Ore. The role focuses on driving process improvement by addressing diverse safety, quality and efficiency issues.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing improvement projects
- Facilitating the development and introduction of new tests and equipment.
- Relief coverage for the Evaluation Metallurgist
- Mentoring and development of Metallurgical Graduates

Ideally with 2 - 5 years experience in a mineral processing or testwork environment, you will have strong analytical and problem solving skills. You will also need to have the ability to work on several projects in parallel, autonomously or in small teams. Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline is required and a working knowledge of bench and pilot scale testing will be highly regarded.
