2 x Senior Metallurgists [Aug.29, 2008]

Our Client requires 2 x Senior Metallurgists to join their operations based in Africa.
Key responsibilities of this role include;
- Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards
- Identifying and managing projects in a timely and effective manner
- Development of Plant Metallurgists, Graduate Metallurgists and Process Operators to positions of increasing accountability is a Key Performance Indicator
- Lead activities of the Metallurgy Team to assure cost effective and high quality metal recovery activities Develop and maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting procedures for production, metal recovery and operating cost
- Implement and monitor operations budgeting and cost control systems
- Develop and maintain Metallurgical Accounting and Metallurgical Reconciliation procedures
- Provide technical input into development of training packages
- Manage Metallurgical Laboratory, including calibration of plant technical equipment
- Manage monitor process plant water balance program
- Relieve metallurgy superintendent when required
- Liaise with mining and geology departments to achieve optimum throughput and recovery;
- Pro-actively participate and contribute to department tactical plan
- Attend all assigned meetings as per department KPI’s
Qualifications and Experience required to be successful;
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
- At least five years experience in industry with exposure to gold processing in a developing country
- Prior supervisory experience
