Process Control Engineer  [May 1, 2008]

Location: Cadia Valley, Australia

The Process Control Engineer reports to the site Senior Electrical Engineer and provides Control System support and technical services to the mining, ore treatment, maintenance and project departments throughout Cadia Valley to maintain and enhance the capacity, availability and reliability of the organisations plant control systems.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for management of plant Control Systems comprising Yokogawa DCS, Allen Bradley PLCs, Citect;
  • Implementing effective system maintenance, optimisation and support;
  • Working with consultants and plant engineers to coordinate the design, and manage the implementation, of process improvement or capital projects relating to the control system;
  • Review/ update standards / procedures relating to Process Control Engineering;
  • Analysing the effectiveness of, and making recommendations for changes to equipment maintenance programs;
  • Analysing equipment performance and making recommendations for improvement;
  • Investigating and implementing improvement initiatives from the operational departments and via the business improvement process; and
  • Providing analysis and recommendations for equipment life cycle and replacement.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A strong safety focus;
  • A degree/diploma in Electrical /Software Engineering;
  • Personnel with electrical trade’s qualifications and relevant process control experience will be considered for this role;
  • Substantial experience in process control engineering (Experience with Yokgawa DCS, Allen Bradley/Siemens PLCs, Citect are highly regarded);
  • Experience liaising with external service providers; and
  • A continuous improvement approach to all tasks.
