Operations Team Leader  [May 2, 2008]

Location: NT, Australia

GEMCO is seeking an outstanding team leader to motivate and lead employees to achieve challenging safety and production targets within the Concentrator in the Ore Processing and Port Operations Department.

This role is responsible for ensuring integrated, safe, quality conscious and cost effective production in the PCS, Concentrator and Road Haulage operations through leadership and supervision of a shift Operator/Maintainer team. The successful candidate would be accountable for ensuring all production targets are achieved in a safe manner through effective utilization of personnel, working within budget guidelines, liaison with stakeholders to ensure maximized plant availability, and the identification and facilitation of continuous improvement practices.

With a proven track record in leading teams towards achievement of work area and departmental goals and objectives candidates will be able to demonstrate applied contemporary leadership practices, including:

  • The ability to ‘walk the talk’ and lead teams by example.
  • Capability to engage the team through excellent communication skills.
  • Delivery of safety and production outcomes by holding people accountable for their performance.
  • A desire to develop team members through on the job coaching and mentoring.
  • The ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the operation.

The successful applicant will be a strong leader, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. An ideal candidate will be an innovative and improvement focussed self starter, who thrives on goal achievement, who is driven to achieving the highest health, safety, environmental and community standards and Zero harm practices.

This is a residential role where successful applicants will be required to work a cyclical shift roster, including days, nights and weekend work.
