Plutonic Gold Mine is located approximately 1000km north-east of Perth and is one of Australia’s largest producer’s of gold. We currently produce 216 000 ounces each year from our underground operations. Reserves currently stand at 2.4 million ounces.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a self-motivated Laboratory Supervisor to join our Processing team at the Plutonic Gold Mine. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist the successful applicant will be responsible for the supervision of Laboratory Technicians and the day to day safety and efficiency of the site laboratory.

The Plutonic laboratory utilises 2 digestion techniques:

1. Aqua-Regia with DIBK finish
2. Micron Mill / PAL (Pulverise and Leach) system utilising leach-well ®

Analysis for both techniques is performed using AAS. Specific experience in the use of these digestion and analytical techniques and gold metallurgical test work experience will be highly regarded.

Principle duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that the laboratory operation meets statutory requirements, as well as Barrick policies regarding safety and environmental standards
  • Ensuring safe operation of the site laboratory and associated equipment and infrastructure
  • Maintaining quality control and compilation of monthly QA/QC reports
  • Compilation of daily lab assay reports for the processing and geology departments
  • Daily liaison with geology department in regard to grade control and development sample processing requirements
  • Maintaining and administering the site laboratory operations manual, which includes sample preparation and wet lab procedures
  • Administering and managing laboratory staff manning levels including rosters, leave and flights
  • Coordination of metallurgical test work as required

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications/skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in laboratories, with a minimum of 1 year in a senior or supervisory position
  • Good leadership, written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft programs
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to work as a positive and proactive leadership group team member

This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided.
