Post Doctoral Fellow  [May 14, 2008]

Location: NSW, Australia

The Instrument Systems for On-line Analysis team within CSIRO Minerals, located at Lucas Heights in Sydney, is a world leader in the development of on-line measurement technologies for many industrial applications. Our team applies a wide range of technologies including nuclear, microwave, ultrasonic and optical to deliver an appropriate on-line solution - from prototype design to installed plant analysis systems. At present, team activities include elemental and mineralogical analysis, soft sensor monitoring, particle size measurement, and technologies for security screening of cargo and luggage.

We are seeking a candidate for a postdoctoral position working in the areas of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF). The successful candidate will contribute to projects developing analysers for the on-stream measurement of mineral ores using X-ray techniques.

The position involves:

  • Designing and optimising on-line analysis systems
  • Undertaking experimental laboratory work
  • Developing and using computer nuclear modelling techniques
  • Creating novel calibration techniques and software, and;
