Eight Industry-Based Fully Funded EngD Studentships  [October 2, 2018]

Location: Cornwall, UK

The University of Exeter is currently recruiting for eight (8) fully-funded EngD studentships, with a tax-free stipend of £20,277 per year, to start as soon as possible. We are seeking top-class motivated graduates ready to help solve sustainability problems in industry through research with the University of Exeter. The UK is committed to integrating sustainability into its industrial base which requires a new generation of leaders who have world class skills in technical aspects of Engineering and sustainability. Our EngD researchers are awarded an International Engineering Doctorate, jointly by the Universities of Exeter, Warwick and Cranfield.

As a ‘Research Engineer’ in this programme you will be supervised by world leading academic experts and industrial researchers in your project. Each of these eight projects will have an industry partner ready to implement changes in how they address a sustainability challenge within their business.

The list of industrial partners associated with the programme is growing, and each project will take its own shape. The programme could involve companies from sectors as varied the domestic heating sector, to oil & gas, to construction. In your application please do indicate if you are interested in any particular sectors.

The studentship will cover a stipend of £20,277 per annum, research costs and tuition fees at the UK/EU rate for students who meet the residency requirements outlined by the EPSRC. Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements may still be eligible for a fees-only award but no stipend. Applicants who are classed as International for tuition fee purposes are not eligible for funding. Further information about eligibility can be found here.

The studentships are part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing.
