:: GRD Minproc Brisbane Office awarded contract for Phu Kham Expansion Engineering construction company GRD Minproc, a subsidiary of GRD Limited, has been awarded a contract by PanAust Limited to complete the engineering and procurement for the US$40m concentrator expansion at the Phu Kham Copper/Gold Operation in Laos. The contract with PanAust is through its Laos-based entity Phu Bia Mining Limited and is part of work being undertaken to increase the capacity of the existing Phu Kham concentrator by 33 per cent, from 12mt/a to 16mt/a. The work will be undertaken from GRD Minproc’s new Brisbane office and carried out in two stages. The first being project definition and conceptual engineering; the second stage is the detailed engineering and procurement. GRD Chief Executive Officer Cliff Lawrenson said GRD Minproc looked forward to helping PanAust increase its production capabilities at Phu Kham and the project would add to the company’s already extensive project delivery experience in Asia. “This contract is a significant step in the development of our Brisbane office, which opened late last year with the aim of tapping into study and project opportunities on the east coast of Australia and also in South East-Asia,” Mr Lawrenson said. “The Phu Kham contract is a direct result of the decision to establish an Australian east coast hub.”
