:: Gravity-only Plant Commissioned in Magadan

Metso Minerals, formerly Svedala, recently completed comparative testwork campaigns to examine the use of gravity-only recovery circuits for ores that have a high percentage of free gold when ground to a P80 of 74 microns. Two projects have proceeded with Falcon's technology at the heart of the flowsheet. One is located in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia and the other in Magadan, Russia.

The Magadan Project has a single Model SB1350 in the grinding circuit and two continuous Falcon C concentrators in rougher/cleaner configuration on cyclone overflow. An advantage of this circuit is that the continuous concentrators yield higher metallurgical recoveries since they recover a higher weight percentage to concentrate than batch-type concentrators.

The complete circuit was designed and built by Metso Minerals. The owners of the plant, Susuman Gold Corporation, were impressed with the Falcon units, especially since the continuous units require no additional process water and do not upset the water balance within the circuit.
