:: Siberian Order for Metso

Metso Corp.'s rock and mineral processing division is to supply €57 million worth of diamond-recovery equipment for a new diamond concentrator that will be built at Alrosa Co. Ltd's newest operation, Nyurba GOK, located some 250 km northeast ofAlrosa's headquarters at Mimy in Yakutia.

The Alrosa order, Metso's largest, comprises all of the equipment required for the concentrator as well as various other comminution, screening and separation equipment. Most of the Metso equipment will be delivered to site during the coming northern summer, and the concentrator is due to start operations in the September quarter of 2003.

The order follows the supply by Svedala Industri (which has subsequently been acquired by Metso) of a pilot plant which used novel diamond-separation technology for the Nyurba project two years ago. Metso will be responsible for the concentrator's project planning, including electrical and automation planning, as well as the supply of all equipment.
