:: Larox to Supply Filters to Talvivaara Mine
Larox and Talvivaara Project Ltd have agreed filter deliveries to the Talvivaara mine to be built in Sotkamo, Finland. Total value of this so far biggest single contract for Larox is approximately 10 million euros and includes several units of Pannevis Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filters with auxiliaries. Delivery will be in two phases during the years 2008 and 2009.
The Talvivaara deposits comprise one of the largest known sulphide nickel resources in Europe with 266 million tonnes of ore in measured and indicated resources sufficient to support anticipated production of 24 years expected to start in late 2008. Expected annual nickel output will be approximately 33,000 tonnes. As by-products of the process, the mine is also expected to produce approximately 60,000 tpa of zinc, approximately 10,000 tpa copper and approximately 1,200 tpa of cobalt.
Talvivaara is using bioheapleaching technology to extract metal out of ore. The process harnesses locally occurring bacteria.
