:: Hatch Hands Over Kimberlite Sample Plant
Hatch Ltd. is pleased to announce the successful handover to the joint venture of Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. and SOQUEM the Foxtrot Project Kimberlite Sample Plant in central Québec.
The mine-site and plant is located in the Otish Mountains approximately 750km north of Montreal, and is comprised of crushing and kimberlite treatment facilities.
The sample-plant facilities provide primary crushing, scrubbing, screening, secondary & recrush crushing, with a 10 tph DMS (Dense Medium Separation) module to treat decline-and-surface-pit kimberlite samples mined on the property.
During commissioning, the plant successfully treated a coarse -50mm hard kimberlite, with DMS recrush, at a plant feedrate of 7 tph. It is expected that the plant will treat up to 100 tons per day.
The design, procurement, construction and commissioning was achieved on a 12-month schedule at a remote location in Québec.
The project site has no road access and is only accessible by air, i.e. a lake-ice airstrip in winter, and a float plane and helicopter in the summer months. To fly the sample plant, which was fabricated in South Africa, to the site, the maximum weight of each shipment had to be less than 1200kg.
Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. is a public company with diamond exploration projects in Québec, Alberta, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories. SOQUEM is a government agency that contributes to the discovery and development of mines in Québec.
