:: EGL Wins $2.3m Water Treatment Plant Contract

Environmental Group Limited (EGL) today said it had been awarded a $2.3 million contract from Centennial Coal Company Limited (CEY) to design, construct, commission and operate an upgraded water treatment plant to service its Clarence Colliery mine site.

"The upgraded plant will be capable of treating up to 25 ML per day of underground mine water utilising proven dissolved air flotation technology to significantly reduce the manganese and iron levels discharged into nearby waterways," the group said in an announcement to the ASX.

In addition to the turnkey design and construct contract, Environmental Group advised it would operate the plant for two and a half years with a further 10 year option.

The plant is expected to be commissioned by June 2004.
