:: Venezuelan Success for Met-Chem

Met-Chem Canada Inc. and Spanish engineering and construction company Duro Felgnera SA have been awarded a US$5 million engineering contract by state-owned CVG Ferrominera Orinoco CA (FMO).

The iron-ore concentrator will have an 8 Mt/y capacity and will be located in the Piar iron-ore district of Venezuela.

The concentrator will enable FMO to develop the reserves of lower-grade iron ore at its various operations in the region. According to FMO, construction of the US$230 million project is scheduled for completion in the latter part of 2005.
