:: Mineral Los Pelambres Commissions Optimization Project

Minera Los Pelambres has recently commissioned its 114KTPD Optimization Project. The project was initiated in order to increase the ore processing capabilities from 85,000 to 114,000 tons per day. FFE Minerals was awarded the contract to design and furnish the mill discharge components required for Minera Los Pelambres to increase the output. Other related components, such as the pebble crushers and conveyor modifications, were furnished by Bechtel/Minera Los Pelambres.

FFE Minerals scope of supply involved SAG mill discharge end components including a redesigned discharge assembly. The discharge assembly includes cast pulp dischargers, grates, lifters, new higher strength cast discharge trunnion-trommel adapters, and higher strength redesigned trommel assemblies. The components are designed for sustained operations at the higher production levels, including the discharge chute work for oversized materials and water spray systems.

FFE Minerals was uniquely positioned to support the Minera Los Pelambres due to our process design capabilities and detailed knowledge of the SAG mill design. FFE Minerals was the original equipment supplier to Minera Los Pelambres in their 1997 project to install this processing line. The scope of supply for the original equipment included one (1) 60" x 110" TC gyratory crusher, two (2) 36' x 19', 17,000 HP SAG mills, and four (4) 21' x 33.5', 9,500 HP ball mills.

FFE Minerals has assisted multiple customers in the Chilean and international minerals processing markets for initial equipment supply, as well as aftermarket services including parts, full plant maintenance responsibility and process consultation services.
