:: Excel Raptor XL400 Installed To Crush SAG Mill Pebbles An Excel Raptor XL400 Cone Crusher has been successfully commissioned at Codelco's Chuquicamata mine in northern Chile, the largest open-pit copper mine in the world. Pebble rejects from the semi-autogenous grinding mill are fed at 260 metric tons per hour to the Excel Raptor crusher, which reduces the extremely hard ore from 3.5 inch (89mm) down to 0.75 inch (19mm) in open circuit. Prior to installing the new crusher, the crushing plant suffered frequent unscheduled shut-downs due to mechanical failures of a competitor's 400 horsepower roller bearing type crusher. Since the extra-heavy duty Excel Raptor XL400 crusher entered operation in April of this year, the plant has operated without incident.
