:: Bateman Litwin Awarded US$40 million EPC Project For Supply Of Solvent Extraction Plant To Codelco, Chile

Bateman Litwin N.V., announced that its Solvent Extraction Business Unit, which is part of the Advanced Technology division, will design and deliver a 150,000 tons per annum Copper Solvent Extraction (SX) Plant for Codelco, the Chilean state-owned copper company and the world’s top producer. The new plant will be located at Gaby copper oxides deposit south of Calama, Antofagasta Province, II Region, Chile.

This contract, valued at US$40 million, will be run on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis, and include engineering, supply of proprietary equipment, construction, training, commissioning and start-up supervision. The chosen technology for this project is the Bateman SettlerTM, a proprietary reverse-flow mixer-settler (RFMS) technology, which was developed and patented by Bateman Litwin.

Raphael Kleinberger, General Manager of Bateman Litwin's Solvent Extraction Business Unit said “This major contract is one of the most significant contracts Bateman Litwin's Advanced Technology division ever had. It is the latest in a long list of projects successfully executed by the company using the Bateman Settler™. This technology provides significant advantages compared to conventional settlers, including increased operational efficiency, short construction time and low capital costs.

The plant will be designed for a total solution throughput capacity of up to 3,500 m3/h of PLS with two parallel solvent extraction trains. Implementing its concept of strategic partnerships and alliances, Bateman Litwin is using the services of SKM Minmetal, as the major local Chilean player. Supply of LIGHTNIN brand mixers, utilizing proven mixing technology adds value to robust solutions provided for the project.
