:: Metso Minerals to Supply Crushing and Screening Equipment to Codelco in Chile

Metso Minerals will supply crushing and screening equipment to Codelco for its Gaby Copper Mine in northern Chile. The value of the order is approximately EUR 16 million, which was included in the second-quarter order intake. The estimated start-up for the operation is the first quarter of 2008.

The delivery comprises six MP1000 crushers, one 60-110 gyratory crusher and six 12’ x 24’DD screens. Metso Minerals' solution is for a crushing plant, which is capable of processing with a capacity of 4.850 Mtph (metric tons per hour).

The projected life of the Gaby project is 15 years. The mine is expected to process 584 million tonnes of ore per year, with a total production of 1,920,000 tonnes of fine copper by heap leaching, solvent extraction and electrodeposition.
