:: New Bateman Country Manager for Botswana
Bateman opened a permanent office in Gaborone, Botswana, in January 2004 with the aim of enhancing the company's ability to respond to the unique, local requirements of the natural-resources industry in this country and to more effectively satisfy the needs of clients, in respect of undertaking project work in the region. In addition, it has enabled the company to provide an enhanced service for the maintenance and optimum performance of equipment on operating mines. Bateman has had a long-standing involvement in Botswana. It has recently undertaken a study for Debswana Diamond Company's Damtshaa Mine on the feasibility of doubling up the capacity of its diamond-processing plant to handle 400 t/h of run-of-mine kimberlite. However, it has been associated with the plant at Damtshaa since the start carrying out the feasibility estimates and then being awarded the greenfields project to establish it and its associated infrastructure at the mine. Bateman has also recently supplied flotation cells to MDM for its Mupane Gold project in Botswana. The order comprised six Bateman BQR400 (40 m3) flotation cells for roughing and scavenging applications, as well as an operating and standby blower.
