:: New MD for Bateman Africa

Theo Qabaka, BSc (Eng); CIS (Part II), has been appointed Managing Director of Bateman Africa. Theo was previously Managing Director of the New Diamond Mining Corporation, and prior to that General Manager at Anglogold's West Wits and Free State surface operations.

Theo has been associated with the mining industry for some 25 years, working for De Beers, Anglo American and Shell SA in various capacities. His experience is wide ranging as he has worked in production, projects and research in the diamond, coal, base metal and heavy minerals sector.

Bateman Africa (Pty) Ltd is a unique, black-empowerment process-engineering and project-management company targeting mining and industrial projects in South Africa. It focuses on the provision of innovative solutions to the natural-resources, power-generation, infrastructure and industrial sectors through the implementation and operation of engineering and construction projects. It is 51 % owned by black equity shareholders and 49 % by Bateman Projects Limited.
