:: Cyril O'Connor Elected President of IMPC Council

Congratulations to Prof. Cyril O'Connor, Dean of Engineering at the University of Cape Town, who was elected new President of the International IMPC Council at the recent International Mineral Processing Congress in Istanbul.

Prof. O'Connor takes over from Prof. Eric Forssberg of Lulea University, Sweden, who has chaired the Council for the past 21 years. Cyril has represented South Africa on the IMPC Council for a number of years, and was the Chairman of the committee which organised the XXIIth IMPC, held in Cape Town in 2003, and regarded as one of the most successful IMPCs of recent times. Prof. O'Connor is pictured (right) with Prof. Forrsberg and Prof. Wang Dianzuo, Chairman of the XXIVth IMPC, which will be held in Beijing in September 2008.
