:: Anglo Names Cynthia Carroll as First non-South African CEO The world's third-largest miner Anglo American has named Cynthia Carroll (49) as its new CEO to succeed Tony Trahar when he retires in March. Carroll, CEO of Alcan Primary Metal group and the first non-South African to head up Anglo American, will join the Anglo American board on January 15. She will take on the role of CEO on March 1. As president and CEO of Alcan's Primary Metal group, Carroll's responsibilities include all of Alcan's primary metal facilities, research and development, technology and power generation with 18 000 employees operating in 20 countries around the world, the company said in a statement.
