:: Changes at UCT Centre of Mineral Processing With the departure of Dr. Malcolm Powell to the JKMRC in Australia (see min-eng.com/people/oz/56), a number of personnel changes have been made in the Comminution Group and Centre of Minerals Processing at the Unviversity of Cape Town. The dedicated and experienced Dr Aubrey Mainza takes over the comminution research, and he will have 3 current and 2 new students under him. Jenni Sweet takes over as Manager of the MPTech consulting group. Andre van der Westhuizen is doing wonderful work on the plant survey and characterisation front, with great new techniques coming out. Craig Sweet will become more involved in UCT products (such as liner wear monitoring) and the technology transfer side of the business. They are backed by the technical team of Jason Waters and Michael Bekapi, and Nicky Davies and Judy LeCash on the administration side. Dr Indresan Govender will lead the computational research. He has the experience and insightful input of Andrew McBride to back him and should have 2 students under him by next year. He will also be a part of the CERECAM research group of Prof Daya Reddy.
