:: IMPC Lifetime Achievement Award

For the first time in its history, the IMPC awarded its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award jointly to Prof. Alban Lynch and Prof. Wang Dianzou at the gala dinner in Brisbane on 8th September. Prof. Dianzou, is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Engineering (USA). He was formerly President of the Central South University, China and is Honorary President and Professor of the General Research Institute for Non-Ferrous Metals. He was Chairman of the organising committee for the previous IMPC in Beijing.

Professor Wang devotes himself to the research on processing and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources. He has been awarded one National Natural Science Prize, three National Invention Prizes and four National Science and Technology Progress Prizes. He has over 320 papers published.

Professor Wang Dianzuo’s works and contributions to the field of mineral processing and flotation, in particular, were not totally known abroad - meaning outside China and, eventually, the former Soviet Union - due to the, then, prevailing official system of communications with the outside world in China, thus hindering himself as well as others of presenting his contributions to the outside world.
