:: Steve Fawell
Steve Fawell, Engineering Manager of Eriez Magnetics Europe Limited, passed away at the age of 58, on 30th March 2013 after a long illness.
Steve was the mineral processing equipment specialist at Eriez for over 23 years, and his career developed from a Minerals/Sales Application Engineer through to Laboratory Manager, before being appointed Engineering Manager in 2005.
Steve earned his BSc in combined studies (Geology and Chemistry) at Sunderland Polytechnic and prior to joining Eriez he worked as a Material Processing Engineer for TSL (Thermal Syndicate Limited) and in Project Management for Tilcon Limited, where he was heavily involved in sand processing.
He made a considerable contribution to the growth in global equipment sales for Eriez in the mining, ceramics and mineral processing industries, and was the author of many technical papers on the subject.
During his time at Eriez as Laboratory Manager, Steve was instrumental in applying high intensity magnetic filters for processing industrial mineral sands, for the removal of iron contamination. Eriezí excellent reputation in this market is very much based on the pioneering ground work that he undertook over many years.
Steve was a keen lifelong Sunderland Association Football supporter, as many visitors to Eriezí laboratory will have noticed, with the only picture on the wall being that of his beloved SAFC. He enjoyed music and was a keen rugby fan.
Steve is survived by his wife Chris, son Tim and daughter Rebecca.
