:: Nick Miles Back on his Bike

Once again, this August, I will be part of a team of volunteers from The University of Nottingham taking on a major cycling challenge covering 1,400 miles and taking in all four corners of Great Britain. This time it's in aid of Children's Brain Tumour Research and each cyclist will be riding in honour of a patient who has battled the disease

Worldwide, over 30,000 children each year are diagnosed with cancer of the brain or central nervous system. Survival rates have improved over the last 20 years but brain tumours remain the leading cause of cancer deaths in children.

I am privileged to be riding in honour of a young lad, Boyan, a survivor of a brain tumour. Thanks to the expertise of the Nottingham Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre, he is now a healthy, happy 6 year old. So I'm raising funds for research to battle this life-threatening disease and to achieve similarly positive outcomes for future young patients and their families.

Your support will enable crucial advances to be made into understanding the cause, nature, treatment and outcomes of childhood brain tumours. I do hope you will sponsor me by going to my Just Giving page which you can find here www.justgiving.com/Nick-Miles5 or through our website China weboa.nottingham.edu.cn/UNNC.FOOS.Web/donation.aspx.
