:: Giermak to Step Down After 43 Years at Eriez Magnetics

Eriez Magnetics announced that President and CEO Chet Giermak will retire at year end after 43 years of exemplary service. He served as vice president - sales until becoming president in 1970. He announced his retirement at a meeting of employees during which he said, "It’s been an honor and privilege being associated with extraordinary individuals…plant, office and field…for over four decades. I leave the company in good hands, enjoying profitable years in 2002 and 2003 and poised to have an even better 2004 and beyond."

During his tenure, Giermak led the company from 40 employees and $1.8 million annual sales to 480 employees and $70 million in sales. Chairman Richard Merwin noted Chet consistently strengthened the company through this period of dramatic changes in the marketplace and technology. "Chet has boundless energy and dedication and is a perfect example of managing by our Company principles, which are based on the Golden Rule."

Merwin announced Tim Shuttleworth, of Eriez, presently vice president - international operations, to succeed Giermak effective January 1. He stated, "Tim has done an outstanding job building Eriez’ export and international operations since joining the company in 1994 and he enjoys the full confidence of the Eriez Board of Directors."
