:: 2004 CIM Award Winners Canada's minerals industry has entered a new era of technology, sustainability and corporate governance, and the individuals leading the pack and leaving their mark were honoured by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) at an Awards Gala on Monday, May 10, at the Edmonton, Winspear Centre. Among CIM's most prestigious awards, the CIM Distinguished Service Medal was awarded to Dr. John Leslie Jambor, Tsawwassen, BC, president of Leslie Research and Consulting. He has had a long career as a research scientist. The Inco Medal was presented to Michael D. Sopko. Dr. Sopko has spent his 40-year career at Inco Limited, where he held positions of increasing responsibility. He is a Director of TD Canada Trust Bank and Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation. The Selwyn Blaylock Medal was presented to Louis J. Cabri, a consulting mineralogist, after a 35-year career as a research scientist with CANMET. For further information:
