It is with great sadness that we record the death of Prof. Peter King, who passed away on September 11th 2006 after a long illness. Our thoughts are with his wife Ellen and family.
Peter was Professor of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Utah for 17 years, and prior to that was Professor of Metallurgy at Wits University, South Africa. He made major contributions to flotation modelling and liberation analysis, was the author of a number of books and until recently was the editor of International Journal of Mineral Processing.
Only two years ago he was awarded mineral processing's highest honour, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the IMPC, at the XXIIth IMPC in Cape Town (www.min-eng.com/people/af/10.html).
