:: Subhash Chander
It is with great sadness that we record the sudden death of Subhash Chander, Professor of Mineral Processing at Penn State University, USA.

Prof. Chander had only fairly recently taken over as the Editor of the International Journal of Mineral Processing from the late Peter King.
Subhash received a B. Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1968) and M.S. and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1970 and 1973. His research interests included applied surface chemistry and interfacial phenomena, colloid characterization and processing, wetting, flotation, multi-phase emulsions, interfacial electrochemistry, treatment and control of acid mine drainage, and dust abatement.

He was the recipient of many awards:
- Milman Award of the MPD division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, 2003.
- Brahm Prakash Visiting Chair, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, 2003.
- Distinguished Member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, 1997.
- Wilson Medal for Outstanding Teaching, Penn State University, 1994.
- Arthur F. Taggart Award of The Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, Inc., 1992.
- Evan Just Award, 1972. For Outstanding Student in Mineral Engineering in Northern California (American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers).
