:: Elizabeth Lewis-Gray to Head Growth Centre
Chairman and Managing Director of Gekko Systems, Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, has been appointed Chair of the Australian Federal Government’s Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Growth Centre - METS Ignited Australia Ltd.
The Industry Growth Centre Initiative is part of the Australian Government’s industry policy direction to lift competitiveness and productivity by focusing on areas of competitive strength. The Initiative will enable national action on key issues such as deregulation, skills, collaboration and commercialisation.
Five other Growth Centres have been established to deliver the Initiative and these are: Advanced Manufacturing, Food and Agribusiness, Medical Technologies and Pharmaceuticals, Oil, Gas and Energy Resources, and Cyber Security.
The mission of METS Ignited is to drive the Australian METS industry to become a trusted partner of the global mining industry, helping to facilitate the industry’s adoption of cutting edge technology and practices.
Elizabeth was delighted to be asked to fulfil this role by the former Minister for Industry, The Hon. Ian Macfarlane, given her interest and commitment to the sector through an eight-year tenure on the Australian Federal Government’s Innovation Australia Board and representation on the Board of Austmine for twelve years (with the last two years as Chair).
Elizabeth said the METS industry in Australia leads the world in the development of new innovative technology and services and it is a privilege to have this opportunity to contribute to the mining industry as a whole.
