:: New Associate Editor for Hydrometallurgy

 

On 1 January 2017, Dr Chu Yong Cheng of CSIRO, starts as an Associate Editor of Hydrometallurgy. Dr Cheng graduated from the Central-South University, China, in 1968 and obtained his Master of Engineering from the same University in 1980. He was awarded his PhD by Monash University, Australia, in 1990. After working at the University of Queensland, MIM Holdings Limited and Mineral Processing Laboratory of Western Australia for over 8 years, he joined CSIRO Minerals in 1998 and has worked as a Senior Principal Research Scientist and group manager of solvent extraction since 2000.

His main research interest is in the separation, purification and recovery of metals such as nickel, cobalt, copper, zinc, manganese, lithium, molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, gallium, germanium, indium, scandium and rare earth metals etc. by solvent extraction. He has over 48 years of experience in the minerals industry and has published over 140 papers on solvent extraction in international journals and conferences.
