:: Minerals Council of Australia Elects New Chief Executive

The Minerals Council of Australia has elected Pasminco Ltd's Chief Executive Greig Gailey as their new Chairman. Gailey replaces outgoing President Barry Cusack who has held the position for the past two years.

Gailey is a long-standing advocate of the Australian minerals industry and for the past year has been Chair of the MCA competitiveness Committee.

Peter Lalor has also retired from the position of Vice President with the council, which he has held since 2001.

The Minerals Council of Australia board has elected Andrew Michelmore from WMC Resources as its Senior Vice Chairman and Peter Coates of Xstrata Coal Australia Pty Ltd as its Vice Chairman.

This is the inaugural board under the Mineral Council of Australia's new constitutional arrangements, determined in June to ensure the council continues to be well positioned as an inclusive and effective national advocate for Australia's dynamic and globally competitive minerals industry.
