:: Dr Ian Gould Wins the 2003 Willis Connolly Medal Dr Ian Gould (Chair of the Parker Centre Board) has been awarded the 2003 Willis Connolly Medal for his significant contribution through communication to advancing the professionalism, the industry and the management of science, engineering and technology. The Willis Connolly Medal is conferred annually by the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the Barbarians. The Barbarians are a group which was established by persons associated with brown coal in Victoria who have had close ties with the industry in West Germany. The group takes its name from Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners. The medal and the accompanying memorial lecture presented by the winner of the medal is in memory of the contribution to science, engineering and technology in Australia by Sir Willis Connolly. It particularly commemorates his achievements as a communicator. Dr Gould will be presented with this medal in December 2003.
