:: TMS Recognises John Floyd In recognition of an eminent individual in the field of the extraction and processing of nonferrous metals, John Floyd, deputy chairman of Ausmelt Ltd, has been chosen to receive The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society's (TMS) 2004 Extraction and Processing Distinguished Lecture Award. Dr Floyd, who earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Melbourne, a Ph.D. from the University of London and DIC from Imperial College, has authored or coauthored more than 70 published technical papers and has invented or co-invented 15 patented processing-equipment innovations in the fields of extractive metallurgy and high-temperature processing plant. The award will be presented at the forthcoming TMS Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Charlotte, North Carolina, between March 14-18, 2004, where Dr Floyd has been invited to present a comprehensive lecture entitled: 'Converting an idea into a worldwide business commercialising smelting technology'.
