:: Graeme Jameson Honoured

Professor Graeme Jameson has recently been honoured for his work in mineral processing. The University of Newcastle has given him a five-year appointment as a Laureate Professor of the University, recognising his many contributions to research and his international standing in the field. He is the first person to receive the award, which is reserved only for a small number of outstanding researchers. He remains the Director of the Centre for Multiphase Processes in the University.

Two well-known researchers in flotation have recently been recognised in the recent Australian Queen's Birthday honours list, being made Officers of the Order of Australia (AO). Graeme Jameson was honoured "for service to engineering, science, industry and the environment as an inventor and through contributions in the fields of fluid and particle mechanics, mineral processing, water and wastewater treatment and particle technology". Also recognised was Professor Tom Healy of the University of Melbourne,for "service to science as a researcher and academic in the area of physical chemistry and to the community through support for the activities of the Ian Potter Foundation and Philanthropy Australia".
