:: CSIRO's New Gold Group Manager
Dr John Rumball, MAusIMM has recently joined CSIRO Minerals in Perth as their Gold Group Manager. This is a position John held between 1995 and 1998 when the CSIRO Gold Group built a considerable reputation for its achievements in on-line measurement of cyanide, minimising reagent consumption, minimising the cost of using saline water and recovering gold from tailings.
John brings to the group 17 years experience in the minerals industry including time with BHP, Aberfoyle (now Western Metals) and most recently WMC Resources. While atWMC John was the Flotation Team Leader involved with projects to improve the performance of WMC's nickel operations at Mt Keith, Leinster & Kambalda.
His expertise will now be focused on leading a dynamic group assisting the gold ore processing industry minimise their costs, increase their recovery and develop new processing options such as thiosulphate leaching. Skills in laboratory, pilot and plant scale mineral processing place John in an ideal position to develop methods to measure reagent concentrations, reduce reagent consumption and recover gold from tailings.
Johns management of the CSIRO Gold Group will also strengthen the Parker Centre Gold Program with the Parker Centre acting as an umbrella organisation over much of the CSIRO Gold Group's activities.
