:: New Chairman for AMIRA Dr R.D. (Rob) La Nauze has been appointed Chairman of AMIRA International , replacing Peter Charlesworth who steps down after two years in the role. Rob La Nauze, a technical consultant to BHP Billiton, was previously AMIRA International’s Senior Vice-President and served as President in 2000-2 when he was with WMC Ltd. Under the new constitution adopted at the AGM he now becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors. John Marsden was elected Senior Vice President and Dr Ray Shaw Deputy Vice-President. Dr La Nauze paid tribute to Peter Charlesworth’s contribution saying “Peter chaired AMIRA International through two years of growth and a period of international expansion and internal reorganisation. "Peter’s calm insights, combined with his inclusive style have helped accelerate AMIRA’s transition to a cohesive global organization," he said. He also paid tribute to four retiring councillors, S.J. (Steve) Healy, Laurie Stonehouse, Dr A.J. (James) Macdonald and A.J. (Alan) Castleman, noting that Alan Castleman had kindly agreed to continue his valued contribution as Chairman of the audit committee. The AGM also saw the appointment of six new directors, They are: Mr R (Rob) Krcmarov, Vice President Global Exploration, Barrick Gold Corporation. Mr M (Marc) Le Vier, Manager, Metallurgical Services & Process Technology Newmont Mining Corporation. Mr D (Dave) Olney, Vice President, Technology & ABS Alcoa World Alumina. Mr S (Stephan) Schwarz, Managing Director, KHD Humboldt Wedag GmbH. Mr J (Johan) Theron, Consulting Metallurgist, Impala Platinum Ltd. Mr C P (Calvin) Treacy, Chief Executive Officer, Intellection Pty Ltd. Four retiring directors were also re-elected: Peter Charlesworth, John Marsden, Dr Chris-Twigge-Molecey and Dr Walter Valery.
