:: JKTech Welcomes Jim Joy to the Team
Professor Jim Joy has joined JKTech to lead a new business unit in Risk Management.
Jim was the Director of the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC) at SMI since 1998 and is well respected within the minerals industry for his expertise in safety and risk. He has facilitated over 300 risk assessments and 40 major accident investigations in Australia and around the world. Jim is a regular presenter at industry forums, delivering papers on current minerals industry issues such as the potential impact of a safety case regime, risk and coal mining governance and human factors engineering issues related to the design of mobile equipment.
Jimís role at JKTech will be to facilitate the delivery of the Global Minerals Industry Risk Management Programme (G-MIRM), the Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table (EMESRT) and build capabilities in providing consulting to the minerals industry in risk management. These items have been developed by researchers at MISHC and are now being transferred to JKTech to provide them commercially to the minerals industry, as part of our technology transfer for research from SMI.
JKTech are very excited about the opportunities that Jim and his team will provide for JKTech and for the industry as well.
