:: New Chinese Smelter Reaches Full Production in Less Than One Month

Ausmelt Limited has announced that the top submerged lance tin smelter constructed by Yunnan Tin Corporation Limited (YTCL) in Geiju City, China has reached full capacity within one month of the first heat-up.

The newly commissioned plant is designed to produce 25,000 tonnes of tin metal each year. It is the worlds second largest tin smelter, and is already operating at design capacity. The worlds largest tin smelter, at Pisco in Peru (~34,000 tonnes a year), also uses Ausmelt technology.

By enabling plants to ramp up to full production so quickly, Ausmelts TSL technology offers customers substantial revenue opportunities through earlier sale of product as well as significant cash flow advantages and cost savings.

Mr Paul Abbott, Managing Director of Ausmelt, said, This is a tremendous result and remarkable by normal industry standards. Ausmelt has spent a considerable amount of time and energy on improving its commissioning and training processes over the past few years and it is pleasing to see that work pay off. This very rapid ramp-up to full capacity reflects the significant advances made in our top submerged lance technology over recent years and augurs well for the commissioning of the Anglo Platinum plant in South Africa scheduled to commence in the next few weeks.
