To date few attempts have been made to quantify the risks and hazards associated with specific chemicals used in water treatment and mineral processing. In a paper in the September 2003 issue of Mining Environmental Management (pps. 9-11), a methodology for quantifying the risks associated with these processes is presented. The methodology is used to numerically quantify the risks of specific chemicals and processes on worker safety and the environment.
