:: Initial Signatories for Cyanide Management Code

The International Cyanide Management Institute has announced the first signatories to the International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold. The fourteen signatories include nine gold mining companies and five cyanide manufacturing and transport companies, covering more than 80 facilities worldwide and representing approximately 36% of global gold production.

The Code is a voluntary programme that commits signatories to manage cyanide in a responsible manner and to undergo independent audits of their operations every three years. The initial signatories are AngloGold Ashanti, Australian Gold Reagents, Barrick, CYANO, CyPlus Corp, EI DuPont de Nemours, Gold Fields, Kingsgate Consolidated, Kinross Gold Corp, Newmont, Orica Australia, Pan Australian Resources, Placer Dome and Rio Tinto.
