Together, Malvern Process Systems and Outokumpu Technology have developed the PSI 500, laser diffraction-based on-stream particle size analyser, for slurry and mineral operations. To be marketed by Outokumpu, the PSI 500, uses Malvern's Insitec realtime online particle sizing platform for automatic sampling of minerals every 10 to 30 seconds from the processing line. It also features an automated diluter unit that delivers sample concentrations to the optical sensor. Both Outokumpu and Matti Kongas, product manager for Outokumpu Technology said the PSI500 will compliment the existing PSI 200 sizer and extend the product range to lower sizes.
