:: Dewatering Cuts Costs Three Agidisc filters installed at the Kanowna Belle Gold Mine near Kalgooriie in Western Australia are making a new backfill method easier and more cost effective, according to site staff. In September 2001 AurionGold's Kanowna Belle operation installed three Eimco Agidisc filters at its paste back-fill plant to prepare tailings for use as backfill in the site's mined-out slopes. Eimco's Agidisc filters are primarily used in dewatecing free-settling solids to form a non-binding cake. The company claims the filters are ideal for mining applications where large filtration areas are required at a low cost and in minimum space.
