The Mineralogical Society Postgraduate Student Bursary

The President and Council of the Society request applications for bursary awards, in December each year, from students registered for a higher degree in the disciplines of Mineralogy, Crystallography, Petrology and Geochemistry. The funds awarded should be used to attend an appropriate conference and present research findings, or visit research laboratories or a field area, in order to further the research aims of the individual concerned. The award(s) are made annually and the total sum available is normally around £4,000. The maximum sum awarded to any individual will be limited to £500 or 50% of the total cost of the proposed programme (whichever is smaller).

The recipient will subsequently submit a report of the research activities to the Executive Secretary for possible publication in the Society’s Bulletin or on its web site. The Council reserves the right to make no awards in a particular year. Applicants should complete the form then hand it to their supervisor with their CV. The supervisor should then complete last box of the form with a confidential reference and send the completed application form and CV to the Executive Secretary of the Society.

The closing date for receipt of applications and award conditions can be found on the Society’s website at: www.minersoc.org/pages/awards/pg.html
