University of Cape Town - Centre for Minerals Research - Post-Doctoral Fellowships The Centre for Minerals Research at the University of Cape Town enjoys an international reputation for its research in flotation and comminution. Researchers interact closely with the majority of major international mining companies worldwide as well as manufacturers and suppliers in these two major areas of mineral processing. Its current focus is largely on flotation (including chemical interactions occurring in the flotation process, flotation circuit modelling, flotation cell hydrodynamics) and comminution (including classification and allaspects of comminution). It also has a strong activity in the application of computational methods to minerals processing such as CFD & DEM applications. The Centre wishes to appoint Post-Doctoral Fellows, particularly in the Flotation Group commencing during the first half of 2007. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for such positions. They should have completed their PhD no earlier than 2005 or aim to complete it within the first half of 2007. The successful applicants will be required to work on projects currently of interest to the flotation chemistry group (or whatever group for which they may apply in cases other than flotation chemistry) and every effort will be made to accommodate specific competencies and / or interests. They should have had reasonably extensive exposure to flotation during their post-graduate research but applications will also be considered from persons with a different but related research experience. They will also be expected to assist with some supervision of post-graduate students. The tenure of a Post-Doctoral Fellowship is one year but may be renewed. Remuneration(completely tax free) is negotiable depending on prior experience but it will be in the region of ZAR 100 000 - 120 000 per annum. Applications should be sent to Professor C T O'Connor, Director, Centre for Minerals Processing ctoc@chemeng.uct.ac.
