:: Virotec International Expands Focus to Asia Environmental remediation company Virotec International Ltd has appointed Dr Lee Fergusson to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer - Asian Development. Virotecs Executive Chairman Brian Sheeran said Dr Fergussons appointment signified the companys intention to take its world first Bauxsol clean and release technology to the Asian market. Virotecs Bauxsol technology has met with a great deal of interest in Australia, Europe and USA, Mr Sheeran said. It is a natural progression now for us to want to firm our dialogue with our Asian neighbours, in order to open up new markets for Virotec. Bauxsols patented clean and release technology is a unique remedy for cleaner land and water. The substance neutralises acids and traps heavy metals. Bauxsol is an effective treatment of acid mine drainage, acid rock drainage, acid sulphate soils and sulphidic mine wastes; assists in the revegetation of acid waste rock and mine tailings; traps and binds chromium from tannery wastes, metals from refuse tip leachates, phosphate from abattoir and sewage effluent, arsenic from drinking water. It is clear there is an urgent need for reliable environmental remediation solutions in Asia, particularly for acid mine drainage and the treatment of toxicity in tailings dams and waterways. Countries such as India, China and Indonesia represent some of the worlds largest producers of gold, tin, tungsten and copper, and the need to remediate abandoned or existing mine sites is vital.
